Children love decorating cookies at the holidays, but once the decorating is done the sugar high begins. To keep the fun and lose the sugar-induced antics, try rolling out your ZDough with a rolling pin and using cookie cutters to make play dough cookies! I've included an example of a Christmas tree, but you can use any cookie cutters you have lying around. You can decorate them with buttons, beads, foam shapes- really anything your heart desires that is safe for your little ones given their age (and likelihood of putting things in their mouths!) The only things that do not work well in the ZDough are paper, string, and other items that stick to it. When the decorating is complete your little ones can squish them up and roll them out again, and all without leaving a sink-full of dishes and the constant question, "Can I have another cookie??"
While adult-sized rolling pins work well, your littles might enjoy having a child-sized rolling pin to incorporate into their ZDough exploration and dramatic play. Lisa at Humble Elephant, a shop on Etsy, creates adorable child-sized wooden pins that work so well in the dough! You can choose smooth pins or ones that are engraved with different images like frogs, lions, monkeys, hearts, or even Santa and his reindeer. Check them out at www.etsy.com/shop/HumbleElephant.
